Division

 WALT: understand division strategies

We had to complete these slides and complete the slide day by day doing all the tasks in the slide but I enjoyed doing the slide because it helps me learn and get even smarter.

I learned how to do slides in a week.

I enjoyed doing this slide to get smarter.

I found it easy to do it in under 10 minutes.

Next time I could be better at doing my work in a week, not in a week and a half.

The Murder

WALT: Write 110 words in 10 minutes.

It was a pitch-black night Anna was home alone once again left with only her pet dog Patric. When suddenly she heard a strange noise like drip drip drip. Slowly she climbed out of bed to see what it was she checked the inside taps it wasn't them. So she checked outside and saw that it was the hose so she turned it off and hopped back in bed. Before getting a friendly lick on the hand from Patric. Then she heard the dripping sound again so she hopped out of her bed to see where it was coming from this time. It was in the bathroom so she turned it off. When suddenly she saw someone so slowly she turned around but when she looked no one was there so she forgot that thought and went back to sleep. She then stuck her hand under the bed and got another friendly lick from Patric. When she heard the dripping noise once again so angrily she hopped out of bed to see what it was this time. It was the kitchen tap so she got a drink then when she was ready to leave she realized the biggest knife in the house was gone. Quickly she ran back up into her room and jumped into her bed. Then she stuck her hand under her bed and got another friendly lick from Patric. When she heard some more dripping noises. Except the noise was really close actually, it was in her wardrobe so silently but quickly Anna walks up to the wardrobe then she opened it. In there was Patric her dog on a hanger blood all over him with a note saying humans can lick too.

I learned how to write 110 words in 10 minutes.

I enjoyed making up fun and scary story.

I found it challenging to try to make the story creepy.

Next time I will Improve by making a bit longer

Ti uru

 WALT: Play the game Ti Uru 

Today we played this cool game after our playtime. All we needed to do is get the ball and pass it to another person but here the cool thing you're only allowed to use one hand but if you use two hands you get disqualified from the game. We played the game with Matua Derek it was so much fun.

The objective of the game was to have fun. 

The rules were you had to use one hand only or you get disqualified.

I learned that when you work together you make more progress.

I enjoy playing the game with my friends.

Next time I could try not to get disqualified.

Drop , Cover , and hold

In-room 5 we had this cool day today but we had to get under our desk in a 1 minute. Then we had to say under our desk and stay there for a minute. Then we had to get out of class and on the fled and call the roll.

We were learning about the drop, cover, and hold Earthquake. 

I found it easy to be quit. 

I found it hard to get in and got under my desk.

I really enjoyed it because it was so much fun for me.

Next time I need to be faster. 

 WALT- walk the length of New Zealand

In-room 5 we have been learning to walk the length of New Zealand. For our math, we had to count our steps and tell the teacher how much steps we did, and for our homework, we got to ask our mum or dad to join in to do over 200 steps, we were able to ask our oversea aunts, mum, dad, grandma, dog, cousins, and koro, when they have done there, steps they Email it to our teacher then she writes it on a pass of paper so she doesn't forget. I enjoyed writing how much steps I got. Next time I will count how much steps I have done. Heres a photo of our work.

W.A.L.T: Solve multi-step word problems using a range of strategies 

For this week's maths word problem task we had to complete these maths slides. My favourite part of these slides was working out the slides and having fun with Ms Peters during our maths lessons. Maybe next time I need to work out the maths word problems faster. Here are some of my maths word problems.

Mapere planting

WALT: write about our Mapere planting experience 

Rooms 5,7 and 11 walked to Mapere to plant Spinifex and Flax. We went to Mapere to try and help our environment and the dune restoration program. We plant Spinifex to stop erosion. 

I found it easy to plant Spinifex and Flax with my friends.

I found it hard to pull the roots from out of the ground.

I really enjoyed planting at the beach with my friends.

Next time I need to come with better shoes. Here are some photos of our cool day out.

WA.L.T   What a quality blog comment is 

I was learning what a quality blog comment is. For this activity, we had to start with a greeting and then we had to say what we loved and then we ended with a question

We were learning about commenting on our class blog.

I found it easy to learn how to comment on our blogs.

I found it hard to say something I enjoyed about their blogs, because there was lots of good stuff on there.

I really enjoyed making the comment.

Next time I need to recheck my grammar to make sure it makes sense. 

 

 

The king

 WALT: Write a shared narrative with a buddy

Once upon a time, there lived a king. The king's name was Cyris, the king was amazing, he was the best, he was superb. He knew everything he was everything and he will be there when you need. Three years later he had a son his son's name was Ryan and Ryan's mum died giving birth her name was Kyvana. Cyris got a new queen her name was Dakota. Dakota was evil she put a curse on good people only good people too.

Square Skills

WALT: 

On this task, we did a Square Skills activity for our practice work in the morning and we had to work out problems and Perimeters of different rectangles.  
e.g P= 2L + 2W  P= 2x24 + 2x1 W= 48 + 2  L = 50.  I need to work on getting all the work done on time. 

It was so much fun doing Square Skills. Here's a photo of my work.

Need for Speed

WALT: Draw a car and describe it's features

For this task we had to draw a car and talk about what it can do e.g how fast it goes.  I did well with making my outline of my car dark, so my car stands out.  I could improve by rubbing out my mistakes.

Features:

• There's a gun in the roof that comes up and shoots people who are being bad
• It shoots out flames from the low exhaust pipe at the back of the car
• It has a lightening bolt button you can push and it makes the car go as fast as the Flash

Ka pioioi

WALT: Sing different waiata in Te reo Maori

My task was to sing and practice different waiata in our school Kapa Haka roopu.  My favourite waiata we sing in Kapa Haka is Ka pioioi.

I enjoy singing Ka pioioi with the roopu.  I think I could improve by standing proud when I sing.

I learned that Caricatures are describing your self and a fun fact about you and they help you learn how to draw better.

Haley, I know you miss your mum and I know you miss your dad but I’m gone I'm trying to give you the life that I never had I can see you sad even when you smile even when you laugh  in your eyes deep inside you wanna cry     

Sometimes it's crazy you know. When the world twirls when It swirls two little beautiful girls. I remember that Christmas but daddy had a job to keep food on the table for you and mum but at the time our houses keep getting robbed and shot up or broke into but mum tried to save some money on the table.  Eminem

A different world living lockdown

WALT: Write 100 words to describe what living in lockdown was like

Get up, have fun, watch the news, and sit in a tree. Stay up and watch TV. I´m in a big bubble working on my new look. Do you like my look? Come and take a look, at my hair, wow! That's good. Drawing a person who should this be? Running around being me, going for a ride to PAK'nSAVE to get some food.

Clean my room for the first time since forever in my life. Make a new look, man that looks ugly but I'm cool.

Colombia

WALT: Increase our knowledge by reading a wide range of texts (Article a day - Book of Knowledge) 

My task for reading was to read one article about Colombia and to write what I learned. 
I enjoyed reading an article about Colombia because Colombia sounds like a beautiful country. 
Next time I will add more detail.

I learned that Colombia is a country in South America.
I also learned that it borders the Caribbean sea. 

Read Works

Room 5 have been learning to read and type at the same time. Also, we have to learn how to work read works. It is so much fun because you can do quizzes and you can have lots of fun reading.

Part whole thinking

WALT: Understand that Part whole thinking means we break an object or group of objects into smaller parts. 

On Thursday we were learning to do part-whole thinking in maths with Ms Peters.
We learned to add, use our time tables and division, and do all of the amazing part-whole thinking tasks. It was so cool because you could do lots of different things and explore how numbers work.

                 plastic should be banned 

Hi, I’m Kryzma and I'm gonna tell you why plastic should be banned. Firstly, it is polluting our oceans and killing our sea life. Animals are endangered by all the plastic in our environment. It is making people not want to live here because of all the pollution. New Zealand is no longer mean and green. Secondly, people say they will not use plastic bags in shops when practically the whole store/food is covered in plastic. Like when you buy snacks they come in plastic wrappers.

Petedelete @ Room 5 Tuesday 25th February

Petedelete 

On Tuesday the 25th of February, 2020 Petedelete came to my school. He is good at art. He is so cool. We made a poem with him. I wrote a poem for the children in Christchurch who have had family that have passed away. We had a really really good time with Petedelete. He left us a giant match stick and a poetry book he wrote and signed for us. Here’s a photo of me holding the match stick.

Reflection:
I learned how to write a poem in under 10 minutes.
My next step is to learn how to be an artist like Petedelete and to write poems like him.
